Multiple Ways of Giving

Dr. Ron Hill is an endodontist who has given back to the Foundation for Endodontics in every way a donor can.

Dr. Hill first pledged to the Foundation when he was a resident. Inspired by the passion of his program director and mentor, Samuel Dorn, for the Foundation and its vision, Dr. Hill decided right then that he wanted to donate more as soon as he was earning an income.

As his private practice in Houston grew, Dr. Hill continued to give generously to the Foundation so that the research funding and educational opportunities he had in residency would continue to be available to the next generation of endodontists.

Given his positive and worthwhile experiences being a mentee, Dr. Hill jumped at the chance to serve as a mentor to endodontic residents on one of the Foundation’s international outreach trips. “Volunteering our time and endodontic skills is a way to show people we care,” says Dr. Hill.

In addition to saving teeth, Dr. Hill was promoting awareness of endodontics among patients and increasing respect for the specialty among the general dentists he and the team worked alongside in the international clinic.

Dr. Hill is also a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Endodontics at the University of Texas School of Dentistry, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate students. He sees the ways that the Foundation is still supporting educational opportunities for residents and providing funding and recognition to academicians. “I feel so fortunate to be an endodontist and to have an organization like the Foundation for Endodontics that supports education and research through different opportunities available to endodontists of all career paths.”

The decision to provide a bequest to the Foundation came when Dr. Louis Rossman, another of Dr. Hill’s many mentors, was serving as President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “I remember receiving information about the Jacob B. Freedland Society and thought it would be a wonderful way to grow as a donor and ensure that the Foundation would be strong for years to come.”

Although Dr. Hill had many examples of how he’d already given back to the Foundation, he says his decision to leave a planned gift in his will was immediate: “I signed the paperwork that same morning.”

Dr. Hill is proud to be a member of the Freedland Society. He’s benefited from the Foundation’s support and advocacy throughout his education and career. Especially admiring of the Foundation’s outreach work, Dr. Hill is hopeful his planned gift will allow the Foundation to expand the work it's so proud to be doing. “I think there is no better way to demonstrate to others how much you care than by direct action.”
